Team for Arsenal on Sunday
Who would you rest?

Definitely rest Antonio, Fornals, Areola, Bowen, Cresswell - and Dawson of course.

Fabianski
Coufal
Johnson
Alese
Cresswell
Masuaku
Rice
Noble
Bowen
Antonio
Fornals

We’re not playing until Thursday so players don’t need resting. I wouldn’t risk Zouma to start, I think Soucek needs to start on the bench, and Benrahma will be fasting. I think we will be forced into playing wingbacks, with Masuaku on the left and either Coufal or Fredericks on the right.

The lack of any signings in January and a very small squad has been made worse by the fact that we only signed 3 outfield players last summer, 2 of which are pointless and Moyes would rather start with 10 men than play Kral.
It's cost us a couple of league placings at least, possibly even 4th and a CL place.
Madness!

What a lovely dilemma….usually we are looking at these games hoping just to be staying up and to the possibility of fucking it up for the likes of the Arsenal in their bid for European places…..

I’d stick Benrahma on the pitch tomorrow. He looked decent on Thursday and we’re gonna need to keep them occupied at the back as I think we’ll be pushed defensively.

I’d play Areola

Goalkeepers get sharper the more they play.

Is zouma injured again?

I wouldn't rest Antonio. He needs dropping !

I don't think Moyes is very happy with him

It comes down to how Wolves get on today.

If they get turned over, we might as well play the reserve team.

Re: Team for Arsenal on Sunday
Goal difference could quite easily come into it also, double dot son. Wolves could beat us into European places

We need to field a strong team, and forget about Thursday for the moment.

This is the price Moyes will have to pay for not strengthening the squad, and buying players like Vlasic who were simply not needed.

Re: Team for Arsenal on Sunday
It is a tough call but I would play a full strength team against Arsenal.

We are only 3 points off 8th and finishing 8th means no Europe next season. I would concentrate on the league that way we are guaranteed Europe next season.

Like I said it's a tough call as we are also only 2 wins away from Champions League Next Season

Expect a half strength team, no way he risks injuries to the likes of Zouma before Thursday

Re: Team for Arsenal on Sunday
4 days rest till Thurs and Moyes will have seen that resting the first team against Chelsea didn't ultimately work, losing both games.

So expect as full a strength side as possible.

Re: Team for Arsenal on Sunday
IF we are looking at Thurs then as much as I'd want us to play a full starting 11 we will line up something like

Fab

Vlad Dec Cress

Fred kral nobes lanzini Arthur

Yarmo Vlasic

Allow zouma recovery, put Dec in the middle of a 3 to use less petrol. Nobes needs to be in a 3 in there now

Do i recall a time not so very long ago when Liverpool played a virtual reserve side at Fulham and lost when we needed them to win?

What goes around comes around as they say.................

Re: Team for Arsenal on Sunday
As much as I want to win every game as long as we win the Europa I wouldnt be TOO upset if we fucked up Spurs & Liverpool with weaker teams v Arsenal & Man City.

As for Sunday I'd say you evaluate who needs a break or is carrying a niggle but generally you can see the season finishing line so go as strong as you can. If you were a player ypu'd want to play every game.
Obviously Fabianski returns & Dawson is suspended so Coufal comes back with Johnson partnering Zouma.
I'd give post-Ramadan Benrahma 90mins and leaving out Antonio for Yarmolenko is a possibility depending on what state he is in.

Re: Team for Arsenal on Sunday
Opps, yes 12 would help.
I'd drop Kral.

Fabianski
Fredericks Zouma Johnson
Coufal Noble Rice Masuaku
Vlasic Benrahma
Yarmolenko

Thanks Jaye

Re: Team for Arsenal on Sunday
Love to have a similar thread in few weeks time when we have Man City on the Sunday and final on the Wednesday .

Can you imagine the fall out from the league and the scousers when our u23’s play.
I don’t think you are allowed to go too weak nowadays. Integrity of competition and all that.

Similarly Spurs will have an eye on the team we put out tomorrow.

Stand a chance with that 12 Max!!

Re: Team for Arsenal on Sunday
Tricky to predict, who rests, tempting to rets them all, but leaves us with a very uncompetitive team.
If Zouma is up to it, I think he could do with more match play. Coufal as well, with the idea that he does play on Thursday. Attacking midfield can all rest, defensive midfield is difficult, I think Soucek needs a rest.

Fabianski
Fredericks, Zouma, Johnson
Rice
Coufal, Noble, Kral, Masuaku
Vlasic, Benrahma
Yarmolenko
